The MindWise Protocol Workshop

for Drug-Free Pain Management

This 2-Day Experiential Workshop from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm will teach the MindWise Protocol for Patient-Driven Drug-Free Pain Management, from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm will teach the a proven and effective method to reduce narcotics for pain management. This training is specifically designed for physicians and nurses, thus empowering them with new tools to directly address the challenges surrounding narcotic and non-narcotic medications.

This Workshop illustrates the mind’s role in the pain cycle in an easy-to-learn, simple-to-use method that can be used by healthcare professionals for patient-driven drug-free pain management in an in-patient and out-patient setting. The objective is to empower patients to manage their own acute and chronic pain, thus reducing, or even eliminating, narcotic and non-narcotic medications.

The goal of this Workshop is for healthcare professionals to adopt a new paradigm and skill set that will allow them to overcome the challenges associated with managing acute and chronic pain. At the conclusion of this 2-Day Experiential Workshop, the participants will be certified in the MindWise Protocol for Patient-Driven Drug-Free Pain Management and will be able to implement their training immediately thereafter.

At the end of this workshop, participants will be competent in:

  •  Background on Hypnosis

    • What hypnosis “is” and what it “isn’t”.

    • How to dispel any misunderstandings and biases surrounding hypnosis in order to overcome patient/public objections.

    • The history of hypnosis in medicine. (Medical hypnosis bibliography provided.)

  •  Conscious and Subconscious Minds

    • The difference between the conscious and subconscious mind.

    • The subconscious mind’s role in the pain cycle.

    • How to effectively communicate with the subconscious mind.

    • Why talking with your patients while they are in hypnosis improves patient outcomes.

    • How or why Pavlov’s dogs have everything to do with pain management.

    • Why a new definition and treatment of chronic pain are necessary.

  • Hypnosis Techniques

    • Why you, the healthcare provider, are already a hypnotist to your patients.

    • Learn the importance of mental expectancy in hypnosis and pain management.

    • Become competent in quick and effective hypnotic inductions by practicing with each other.

    • Learn how and why it’s important to teach self-hypnosis to your patients while they are in hypnosis.

    • The importance of convincers in pain management.

  • MindWise Protocol

    • Why the level of pain should never be the primary determinant for the amount or strength of narcotic required or type of medical intervention used.

    • How to manage post-operative pain and chronic pain with the MindWise Protocol. 

    • How to manage pre-procedure anxiety/panic attacks and nausea/vomiting side effects from chemotherapy or other medications.

    • How to bring more awareness to the opioid crisis and have the tools to address this epidemic more effectively.
